A simpler way to use your savings tracker.
Find quick, plain-language answers for setting up goals, recording money, understanding reports, and looking after your data.
Open the appSet up and manage goals
Start with one goal, then update it as your plans change.
How do I add a savings goal?
Open Savings Goals from the app menu and select Add New Goal. There is a button near the top and another after your goals, so you can add one without scrolling back up.
Give the goal a name and target amount, then choose a start date. You can also add a subtitle, an optional finish date, an optional starting balance, and a picture. Select Create Goal when you are ready. The target must be greater than zero, and the starting balance cannot be higher than the target.
How can I change or delete a goal?
Open the goal's three-dot menu and choose Edit to change its name, dates, amounts, subtitle, or picture. Save your changes when you are done.
Choose Delete in the same menu to remove a goal. The app asks you to confirm. Deleting a goal also deletes its transaction history from this app, so export a backup first if you may need those records.
What does “Falling behind plan” mean?
For a goal with both a start date and a finish date, the app estimates how much you would need to have saved by today to reach the target at a steady pace. If the current balance is below that estimate, the goal stays alongside your other goals and gets an attention badge.
This is a simple planning guide, not a prediction. Goals without a finish date, goals that have not started, and goals already at their target are not marked as falling behind.
How do I find or sort my goals?
Use the search icon in the app's top bar, then type part of a goal's name. The list updates as you type. Close the search or clear the text to see your goals again.
In the Savings Goals section, use the goal filters to sort by start date, finish date, target amount, or current savings. You can choose earliest, latest, highest, or lowest first. Select Falling behind plan first to bring goals that need attention to the top of the list.
Record money and review activity
Keep your balances useful by recording changes when they happen.
How do I add money to a goal?
Select Add Money on the goal. Enter either the amount you saved or the new total balance in Update Total Money. Use one field at a time; typing in one clears the other.
The app records the difference as a transaction. When a balance reaches the target, the goal is marked complete automatically.
How do I remove money from a goal?
Select Remove Money on the goal. Enter the amount you took out, or enter the new balance in Update Total Money. The app records the change as a withdrawal. A balance cannot be reduced below zero.
Where can I see deposits and withdrawals?
Open Transactions to see your activity and totals for money added, money removed, and net change. Use the All, Added, and Removed buttons to filter by activity type, or use the goal dropdown to show transactions for one goal.
Understand reports and the savings calendar
See your progress in summaries, charts, and daily activity.
What can I see in Reports?
Reports brings together total savings, amounts added and removed, your largest individual addition and the goal it went to, goal progress, and savings trends over time. “Best Saving Month” is based on the month's net activity: money added minus money withdrawn.
How do I use the Savings Calendar?
In Reports, choose Yearly, Monthly, or This week. The yearly view shows every month. Use the arrows to move between years or months, or choose a month name or the month picker to open a specific month. Select a day to see its transactions below the calendar.
Green marks days with money added, and red marks days with money withdrawn. Stronger color means a larger amount. In the yearly view, the highlighted month is the one with the highest net savings for that year.
Settings, currency, and your data
Choose how the app looks and keep a backup of your records.
How do I change the currency?
Open Settings and select a display currency. The app supports EUR, USD, GBP, JPY, PHP, CAD, AUD, INR, CNY, and CHF.
This changes the symbol and number formatting throughout the app. It does not convert or recalculate your saved amounts. For example, a saved amount of 100 will display as 100 in the selected currency, not as its exchange-rate equivalent.
Where is my savings information stored?
Your goals and transactions are saved locally in this browser on this device. You do not need an account, and the app does not sync these records between devices or browsers.
If you clear this site's browser data, switch browsers, or use a private browsing window that is later closed, your records may no longer be available. Use Settings → Export Data to keep a backup.
How do I export a backup?
Open Settings, then under Data select Export Data. Your browser downloads a JSON backup containing your goals and transactions. Store it somewhere safe; anyone with the file can read the information in it.
How do I import a backup?
Open Settings → Import Data, confirm that you want to continue, and choose a RealSavings Tracker JSON backup file. The app checks the file before loading it.
Importing replaces the goals and transactions currently in the app; it does not merge them. Export your current data first if you want to keep it.
How can I delete my saved data?
Open Settings → Delete All Data and confirm the prompt. This permanently clears the goals and transaction records saved by the app in this browser. Your display-currency choice is stored separately and may remain selected. Export a backup first if you might want your records later.
Does the app connect to my bank?
No. RealSavings Tracker is a manual planning and record-keeping tool. It does not connect to your bank or move money. You enter deposits and withdrawals yourself.
